The structure of GYFTA optical cable is to insert 250um optical fiber into loose sleeve made of high modulus material, and the loose sleeve is filled with waterproof compound. At the center of the core is a non-metallic reinforced core (FRP), for some number of cores, a layer of polyethylene (PE) is extruded over the non-metallic reinforced core. The loose sleeve (and filler rope) is twisted around the central reinforcing core to form a compact and circular cable core, with gaps in the cable core filled with water blocking filler. Plastic-coated aluminum tape (APL) is wrapped longitudinally and then extruded with polyethylene sheath into cable.
